[CLOSED] Areli Coffee House

Last month, I went with several friends for a tour to Pasar Puri Indah. I love finding delicious food in a more down-to-earth setting. After savoring several dishes there, we went to Taman Ratu for more. One of our stops there was a coffee shop called Areli Coffee House. Most of the eateries in this area care little about interior design, but Areli is much more serious about it. The place is mostly covered with wood, from the wooden floor, wooden table and chair, creating a rustic yet cozy atmosphere. At first, I was afraid that the place would be swarming with smokers, but it turned out I was wrong. The place doesn’t reek of smoke and that’s the first of many good things to come.

Aside from coffee, they also serve several selections of pasta, Western/Indonesian dishes and desserts & snacks. So we ordered long black (regular) 20K, white rum latte 25K. On the table, we saw that they also have Mille crêpe (French dessert made from many crêpe layers) from Champs Pattiserie, so we ordered that too with pisang bakar duren (traditional style grilled banana with durian compote) 17K. While the coffee were ordinary, I found their desserts to be delicious. I love the Mille crêpe from the first bite. The texture were soft and creamy, and you can still see the intricate layering, with cream filling in between the layers. The pisang bakar duren was also good.

We had a good time there, so I went there again with SC several weeks later. This time, we ordered chocolata mischio (regular sized hot chocolate with rum fusion) 24K, seafood aglio pasta 30k. For dessert, I ordered granny apple pie (with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream) 17.5K and a slice of Champs Pattiserie’s original Mille crêpe. The pasta was decent, but nothing special. The chocolata mischio tasted a bit artificial. It could be that they used rum essence/flavor instead of the real rum, and the chocolate they used was milk chocolate, not dark chocolate. The apple pie was delicious and the Mille crêpe was flawless. Overall, I think this is a nice place to hang out with friends and enjoy some light meal and dessert.
