After visiting Trusmi Batik village, we stopped by an Empal Gentong seller called Amarta. This one is one of the favorite Empal Gentong sellers, serving Empal Gentong, Empal Asem & Mutton Satay. Empal Gentong is one of Cirebon’s culinary mainstay. It is basically beef soup cooked with coconut milk, herbs and vegetable in a big clay pot (gentong). So we ordered empal gentong, empal asem (the clear soup version), and several mutton satays to share. I like empal gentong, but not empal asem as I find the latter tasted only so so, nothing special about it. đŸ™‚
