Situated right on the crossroad of Sunset Road and Kerobokan Street at Seminyak, there’s a hip restaurant called Mama San owned by the street food chef, Will Meyrick. We’ve tried Will’s cooking before at Jakarta Culinary Festival 2012 and it was so good that we decided to give Mama San a shot. Having made a reservation the night before, we easily got a seat that night.

Mama San’s menu is a reflection of Will’s travel across Asian, so there’s a wide range of Asian dishes to choose from, ranging from Chinese, Indonesian, Indian, Malay, Singaporean, Thai, Cambodian and Vietnamese. After studying the menu and with help from a very friendly and resourceful waiter, we decided to order La lot (Vietnamese grilled mince pork belly wrapped in betel leaves served with nouc cham) 55K, Twice cooked pork ribs with black bean ginger & soy 90K and since I love Indian dishes, I couldn’t help ordering such menu whenever I found it, so we also ordered Chick pea & eggplant dahl with green chilli & fresh coriander, usually enjoyed with Naan, but we decided to order jasmine rice 15K instead.

All of the dishes we ordered (including the rice) were big enough for the two of us. We enjoyed all the dishes as they tasted so good and we’re so full after that we had to skip dessert. I’m sorry the pictures I took didn’t do them justice, I think I’ll be back again for other dishes at lunch time.
