Yesterday, SC and I decided to have a fancy lunch at a place called Olivier at Grand Indonesia Shopping Town. Coming from the same company as Monolog Coffee, Olivier is the latest addition to Grand Indonesia’s restaurant scene. Located on the ground floor of West Mall, next to Mad For Garlic (read the review HERE). The establishment looks petite and from its entrance, it looks more like a bakery than a restaurant. Inside though, is much spacier with semi alfresco dining area reserved for the non-smoking section while the smoking section is placed near the bar area. It’s nice and green, but without a real barrier between smoking and non-smoking areas, the smoke will drift to the non-smoker’s section anyway.

Fortunately we arrived quite early, so we decided to sit at the farthest corner in the non-smoking area. Olivier’s menu is a mix of European and Asian dishes prepared by chef Camille Benedetto-Flosse. It has a range of selection from starters, tapas, Asian/Western mains including steaks, pasta & risotto and desserts. For starter, we ordered escargot in shell, Burgundy style 90K, platter of grilled iberico chorizo, manchego cheese, served with garlic bread 190K from tapas selection and roast chicken, ratatouille and mashed potato 95K to share. For the drink, I chose a pot of genmaicha 40K from organic kaya tea while SC went with Equil sparkling 380ml 35K.

The chorizo platter arrived first, along with a basket of warm bread, followed with the escargot and roast chicken. The presentation of the chorizo platter was simple and clean: chorizo slices, cheese, grapes and garlic bread. I’m not really familiar with cheese platter, but I found the dish very enjoyable. The garlic bread was crisp and flavorful plus the chorizo and cheese worked perfectly. The escargot was great too, drenched in generous garlic butter that I scraped clean with the bread. The roast chicken was flavorful, moist and juicy, and also big enough for two. I can’t get enough of the reduction sauce. The accompanying ratatouille and mashed potato was also nice. We felt very full afterwards, so we didn’t order any dessert. Overall, the service was friendly and attentive and we had a nice lunch there.
