Pluit is an area well-known for its many delicious eateries, but when it comes to good coffee, we usually have to go to south and central Jakarta where many specialty coffee shops like Giyanti, Tanamera or Common Ground are located. Recently, however, a small coffee shop bearing the name Ombé Kofie has opened in the heart of Pluit and becomes my goto place whenever I crave a cup of good coffee.
Tucked in the same building as Apotik Putri, Ombé Kofie serves quality coffee from 8 in the morning to 6 in the afternoon. The place is not big and it’s usually jam-packed with coffee lovers coming from all over Jakarta. The interior design is quite quirky with many (deliberately) mismatched chairs but somehow it worked.
The coffee station is equipped with a La Marzocco espresso machine, while the owner is always spotted behind the station preparing coffee for customers. Just ask him what coffee beans he has for that day. So far, I’ve tried their Panama Geisha and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe prepared using V60. I’ve also tried their Blue Batak and Yellow Bourbon which are all very enjoyable.
I’ve been there three times already and each time, the service is very friendly. I’ve even brought my father-in-law who wants to learn more about coffee and the owner patiently answered every question. It’s really a nice experience that I rarely encountered at other specialty coffee shops in Jakarta.
