Yesterday, we’re having lunch at Waroeng Kopi inside Sogo Dept. Store, Central Park Mall. Waroeng Kopi is a cafe that serves Indonesia traditional cuisines plus selected coffee from regions accross Indonesia. The interior is much lighter and minimalist than its first cafe at Grand Indonesia. I like the place, but a bit annoyed by the “imaginary” divider that separates the smoking and non smoking sections. Luckily, the place was not crowded so we can choose a table at the corner of the nonsmoking area, without having to worry about smoke drifting to our section.
After studying the menu for a while, we ordered sop iga ala oma (spicy and sour beef ribs soup) 35K for me and rawon komplit (East Java beef kluwek based soup) 25K for SC. The presentation of both dishes were good. My ribs soup is quite tasty. A bit on the salty side, but balanced well once I put some kecap manis and sambal in the soup. On the other hand, the ribs were chewy (read: alot banget) so I practically just ate the soup and stealing SC’s rawon & telor asin. The rawon itself tasted very light, not as intense as we’re used to, with a very little hint of the kluwek taste. Overall, I think if we were to return, I’ll only order their traditional desserts (singkong goreng sambal ikan roa, gemblong etc.) and drinks (wedang jahe, sekoteng etc).
