One of the highlights from our culinary adventure to Kelapa Gading was a place called Kios Lompobattang that I accidentally spotted. It looked interesting so we decided to stop by the place. Turned out this is the branch of a famous bakpao (steam bun) seller from Makassar, South Sulawesi. They serve bakpao besar (big steam bun) and bakpao mini (mini steam bun) with various fillings: minced pork with egg, char siew (bbq pork roast), tausa (black bean paste), cheese, chocolate and cheese, chicken, peanuts. They also have cin ceng pao which means steam bun without any filling.
Being the pork maniac that we are, of course we decided to buy the bakpao besar isi daging babi hambur dan telur (big steam bun with minced pork and salted egg filling) 11K. We sampled it at a coffee shop nearby. It was delicious and tasted even better than the steam bun we had in the morning at Kedai Kopi Kwang Koan. I especially like the salted egg filling. Hopefully I can try this steam bun again in its home town soon.
