Still in the Bintaro area, we were looking for something to eat when I remembered a place mentioned by my foodie friend. The place is called Bebek Renon, named after an area in Denpasar, Bali. So I google-mapped it and went there for dinner before heading home.
The place is quite big with Balinese decor on the outside, so it was easy to spot. Unfortunately, there’s no separation between smoking and non-smoking areas in the restaurant, but since the restaurant looked quite empty, we decided to give it a try.
As suggested by the name, the menu consists of Balinese fried duck & chicken variations. Besides the ala carte menu, There are also set menus with rice. So SC decided to order nasi + bebek goreng + urap 45.5K while I picked nasi + bebek masak pecatu + urap 45.5K which the waiter explained as fried duck cooked with sambal matah (Balinese raw chili sauce).
We really enjoyed our dinner that night. SC’s crispy fried duck were delicious, I suspect it was marinated with spices then braised before frying so the meat was tender and flavorful. My bebek masak pecatu was also delicious and much spicier as it was cooked with sambal matah. If that’s not enough, they also serve a jar of sambal matah that tasted very good as they added kecombrang (ginger torch) in the ingredients. It was so good I practically eaten half the jar. Price wise, it was also much more affordable compared to two other much more famous Balinese fried duck restaurants. If you love Balinese fried duck, you really should visit it if you’re in the Bintaro area.
