Our friend’s wedding reception was held at a place called Maxi’s Resto, very close from Concordia Hotel where we stayed. So on a whim, we decided to check out the place a day before the reception. Maxi’s Resto is located in a place that used to be Glosis Steakhouse. It’s a spacious two-story building which some said have a romantic feel, but unfortunately have no non-smoking area for its guests. They offer a variety of western dishes as well as some Indonesian favorites. It turned out they also have a bakery displaying nice looking cakes. Since we just had lunch at Warung Ethnic nearby, we opted only for the cakes as dessert.

We decided to sit at the terrace area, although it was quite hot, but at least we’re far away from the smokers. The dessert list is not long, but I’ve made up my mind to try a pyramid-shaped cake that the waiter explained as caramel chocolate glazed 20K, while SC decided to order chocolate truffle 20K.

My pyramid cake turned out to be a cheese cake covered with chocolate. It was a tad too heavy for me, but still tasted good. SC’s cake turned out to be very delicious. It tasted rich and bittersweet with hints of liquor, and it was so good, I ended up finishing SC’s cake for him. The service was good and oh, they even gave us each a free glass of still water, which tasted heavenly, especially in the hot day after a delicious dessert.
