Last month, we ventured to Gandaria City to watch The Dark Knight Rises. Before the movie starts, I decided to grab something for lunch first. So we stopped by the new Chinese restaurant with a very provocative name: “Fook Yew”. Coming from the Ismaya group, the interior of the restaurant has an attractive and unique design with mismatched & colorful chairs, vintage-looking Chinese posters bearing some witty quotes. As usual, we asked for a non-smoking area as far away as possible from the smoking section.

Since it was just the two of us, we didn’t order much. I’m not a fan of those bubble teas, so I skipped them and ordered a pot of Chinese tea instead (pu erh). While SC opted for Macau fried seafood noodle with egg sauce 49K, I picked Hong Kong fried seafood noodle 52K simply because the picture shows it is served in Chinese take-out box. SC’s dish came first, looking good and the taste was quite good. I like the egg sauce consistency, not too thick and not too light. My noodles box came next, also tasting delicious. The noodle was the typical thin Hong Kong noodle and the prawns were also fresh. Overall, although the dishes we ordered that day tasted nice, the portion was on the small side. Still, I think I’ll be back for another dishes whenever I’m at Gandaria City again.
