September 12, 2008 | Cirebon, West Java Cuisine, With Pork

On our last day at Cirebon, we headed to Pasar Kanoman for some last minutes shopping. We stopped by Kedai Apun near Sinta store to order ketan bumbu to take home. Kedai Apun also serves: babi panggang Kanoman (Kanoman style roast pork), roast chicken, bakpau, bacang, pork satay, hainamnese chicken rice, chicken congee and several types of traditional cake. So we sat there and sampled their Babi Panggang. It tasted delicious; not too sweet and the skin is crunchy. We later decided to buy some to eat at home.

    Babi Panggang happens to be my favorite food. I have tried many types of babi panggang in Asia and the US, without a doubt the one in Indonesia is the best.

    If you come again to Cirebon, try Pork Satay at Rumah Makan AROMA, located at Jl. Lawanggada, about 70 meters before the railway.

    They serve home cooking Cirebon style too.
    My other favorite there are : bakut, titee, tauco (fermented black soy), stew bamboo shot.

    You must try!
