Last month, we had buka puasa with several friends at a place called Masakan Rumah Bu Endang that serves traditional homemade Javanese dishes. The place is an old house turned into restaurant. Decorated in white & green, air conditioned with no smoking signs placed everywhere 🙂 it feels homy & cozy. The owner, Bu Endang, is a very friendly person. She always talked to the customers & even handing us the cutlery herself.
Soon after arriving, we’re greeted with several type of tajil for breaking fast. There were Kolak, bubur ketan item & bubur sumsum which all of them taste just right. For cemilan we ordered: tahu susur (tofu with vegetable filling) 7.5K & tong tong brong (fried prawn in batter) 6K, for main course we ordered: mangut ikan pe panggang 30K, udang bumbu petis, telor bumbu petis 22.5K, bistik Jawa komplit 30K, udang rambutan mayones 30K, tahu campur gimbal 22.5K, tahu telor petis 22.5K, urap 17.5K, brongkos & many more. Overall all the dishes were delicious. My favorite was their mangut ikan pe panggang, it was just perfect, not too sweet, not to hot with a strong hint of smokiness. We had a great time here and out host was very friendly & helpful to a degree that is quite rare in Jakarta’s numerous restaurants.
