Nasi Uduk Bu Sum is currently one of our favorite places to go whenever we’re in Kota/Mangga Dua area at night. Located at Mangga Dua street, not far from Pasar Pagi Mangga Dua and ITC Mangga Dua, the place can be easily spotted from the rows of parked cars nearby. Opening at 10PM every night except on Saturday nights when it’s closed, Nasi Uduk Bu Sum is always swamped with hungry customers. The place is not fancy, but clean enough. The first time we went there, we arrived early before 10PM and the place is still dark, but several customers were already there waiting patiently. Right on 10PM, the light was turned on, and servers began bringing out the food to place in the serving area. The service was quite fast, so we didn’t have to wait long to be served.
There were a lot of dishes to choose from. Since I didn’t have lots of time to think, I decided to choose whatever that was in front of me. So I got a plate of nasi uduk topped with stuffed squid, semur jengkol, fried peanuts, perkedel (potato croquette), and chili sambal. It was a simple dish but really delicious. The rice was fragrant and warm, plus the dishes were tasty. We went home happy and contented. After that night, we went back whenever we’re in the area, just to try another dishes and enjoy the ambiance there.
