Several weeks ago, SC & I went to Outback Steakhouse at Ratu Plaza. For Jakartan steak lovers, Outback is not a new name. They have created quite a good vibe around the quality of their steaks. The interior of the restaurant is dominated in wood, dimly lit and has a strong western ambience. The restaurant was quite crowded on lunch time, but we managed to get a table in the non-smoking area.

Upon ordering, we’re given a loaf of warm bread served with butter. It was OK, but it was not the kind of hard crusted bread we usually get in Italian restaurants.


We ordered a portion of rib eye steak 8oz 199,9K and a portion of sautéed mushroom 23,9K to share. The steak was served with 2 choices of side dishes, so we picked french fries and green vegetables. I forgot what kind of sauce we asked for, but I think it was mushroom sauce. But the sauce itself was a bit too dilute and didn’t complement the steak at all so we left it mostly untouched. The steak was delicious, cooked into medium state and still juicy. The green vegetable on the other hand was overcooked. The sautéed mushroom was also just so so. In my opinion, it was sautéed too long so it was very watery.


Overall, we did enjoy our time at Outback Steakhouse. But I think I still prefer the steak served by Holycow Steak or Tokyo Skipjack over this one, since their steaks were also good and more affordable.
