It’s been a while since I wrote about street food. In my opinion, one of the most common street food that can be found in Jakarta besides nasi goreng (fried rice) is pecel lele, deep fried catfish usually served with nasi uduk (coconut milk rice) and raw vegetables.
I trust that every one has their own favorite Pecel Lele seller, and the one I’m writing about has long been my and SC’s favorite, located at Permata Taman Palem called Wandi Putra Samba.
Besides pecel lele, this place also serves fried chicken and many types of chicken innards satay. The place is not big, but it’s always packed with customers during dinner time. The only drawback about a place like this is that everyone is free to smoke on the premises.
What I like about this place besides the delectable pecel lele and fried chicken, is their chili sambal that you can ask to be made extra hot. The nasi uduk is also fragrant and fluffy. Unfortunately, their fried cabbage is much too oily and soggy. But overall, we like to come here from time to time for dinner and supper as they opened until 11:30PM. So, do you have a favorite Pecel Lele vendor?
