It’s been quite some time since I last visited Q Smokehouse. We went there two weeks ago and it turned out that they are having an Indonesian Food Festival from June 15 all the way to August 31. Several popular Indonesian dishes are on offer, including ribs cabe hejo (beef back ribs served with green chili sambal), and since I have a chronic addiction to anything cooked with green chili, of course I decided to give it a go.

Q Smokehouse actually specializes in Texas Barbecue and has been in operation since 2007. Currently they have two branches: in Setiabudi One, Kuningan, and in Suryo street, Senopati area. They offer Texas style beef ribs which were smoked for up to 16 hours using genuine equipment brought in from the US. So anyway, for the Indonesian Food Festival, some of the dishes use Q’s famous smoked beef ribs, so it should be promising. We went to Q again several days ago with several foodie friends. I tend to go to this kind of restaurants with friends as we can share what we eat and try quite a lot of dishes and the bill won’t hurt so much.

So, without further ado, we ordered ribs cabe hejo (beef back ribs in green chili sambal served with rice) 110K, beef brisket balado (jerky beef brisket in ‘balado’ spiced sambal served with coconut rice) 95K, sate maranggi (spiced marinated beef & lamb skewers served with coconut rice, chili pickle and sweet soy sauce) and snapper colo-colo (grilled snapper with Maluku’s sambal, served with rice) 85K from their Indonesian Food Festival‘s menu.

Besides that, we also ordered nasi goreng kambing bimbimbap (lamb fried rice with curry spices) 85K, Q’s club sandwich 70K and their specialty: Texas style barbecue brisket platter 200gr 125K. For dessert we ordered apple pie ala mode 95K and puding ketan item 35K.

Overall, it was a delicious feast. I especially love the ribs cabe hejo. The ribs was tender and the green chili sambal were hot and spicy. The other Indonesian dishes also tasted great. The snapper colo-colo turned out to be much spicier that ribs cabe hejo, but I like it that way. Their club sandwich was generous and their bbq beef brisket still tasted as good as I remembered. Plus, I think the price is still affordable considering the portion size and the food quality.
