November 17, 2014 | Bali, Japanese & Korean Cuisine, With Pork
One of the most notable eateries I tried on my last visit to Bali was Rayjin Teppanyaki. SC & I rarely go to teppanyaki places as we prefer sushi/sashimi when it comes to Japanese food. But I’ve read many rave reviews about Rayjin Teppanyaki on TripAdvisor.com, so I decided to make a reservation online as advised. Apparently, Rayjin is so popular that I couldn’t get a reservation on Saturday/Sunday night. But after several tries, I finally got a reservation on Monday night at 6PM.
On Monday afternoon, we decided to get there early. I read that the signboard is very hard to find, but it turned out that Rayjin is flanked by two restaurants with prominent signs: Gourmet Cafe and DAHANA. At 6PM sharp, we’re ushered to our seats in the middle of the teppanyaki bar where there’s a nice handwritten welcoming note. All the crews greeted us passionately and the lively atmosphere was fun and exciting. We decided to order and sat back watching our meal prepared in front of us. So this was what we ordered that night.
Avocado Tuna & Salmon Tar Tar Served with garlic bread 35K
Pork Belly Salad (salads topped with grilled pork belly & sliced cucumber poured with spicy ‘toubujang’ dressing ) 40K
Seasonal Assorted Vegetable Served with Rayjin’s Trio Sauce 35K
Teppan Garlic Rice 18K
Chicken Nanban – sweet sour grilled chicken served with tartar sauce 50K
Tasmanian Salmon in Sesame Dressing Served with stir-fried anchovy potato
Green Tea Creme Brulee 28K
Umeshu (Japanese Plum Wine) 75ml on the rocks 65K
We were very satisfied with what we tasted that night. All the meals we ordered tasted so good. From the avocado tuna tartar, assorted vegetables, chicken nanban to matcha creme brulee. I love it all. Even the garlic fried rice tasted good. After that I couldn’t help ordering a glass of umeshu to finish it. It was probably the best teppanyaki I’ve ever had. Their service was friendly, plus the prices were also reasonable considering the quality we got. So if you happen to be in the Seminyak area, try this place, you won’t be disappointed. Just remember: Reservation is a MUST. Itadakimasu!
