It’s been awhile since I last posted to this blog, seems like my lazy streak is still continuing. So this time I decided to write about a place called Putera Lombok that I’ve been visiting for several times now. Rumah Makan Putera Lombok is located in Alam Sutera and it’s quite easy to spot as the exterior is attractive and prominent.
The name Putera Lombok reminds me of an eatery with the same name in Kelapa Gading that I tried several years ago. I was intrigued and since I like spicy food, I decided to try it. Upon entering the place, I was quite surprise to see the place to be nicely designed. Not in the specific Lombok style, but there are a vintage and traditional accents in the wood panels, floor tiles and lamp. The second floor is also a dining area.
The menu not only consists of Lombok dishes, but also several choices of Indonesian favorite dishes. So those who do not fancy spicy dishes can still enjoy dining in this place. From our several visits here, I’ve always ended up ordering Ayam bakar Taliwang with Pelecing Kangkung, while SC has ordered soto ayam (Indonesian style chicken soup), sop buntut (oxtail soup), and lele goreng (fried catfish).
After several visits, I can say that the food have never let me down. I enjoyed the (not too) spicy Taliwang chicken to be eaten with warm rice. Oh, the dadar jagung (corn fritters) are also worth a try. The soto ayam also tasted delicious, though I found that the fried catfish is just OK and the oxtail soup too peppery. Another nice discovery is their es tape kong with a really generous amount of tape (fermented cassava) in it.
Overall, with the taste of food and ambience, I think this place is going to be a favorite for Sunday/Weekend family dinner or maybe business lunch too for people working in the area. So if you plan to come here, make sure you arrive early or make a reservation first.
