July 7, 2016 | International Cuisine, JAKARTA, North Jakarta, With Pork

New restaurants keep opening up in Pantai Indah Kapuk area and this time, a new place called Sainé Daise Bistro has made me interested. I’d read about this place from several blogs and it looks promising so I decided to give it a go. Sainé Daise Bistro is located on the same row of shop-houses as Native Coffee Tribe. The first floor is dedicated for EIO Patisserie and the second floor is the restaurant. The interior is classy and elegant with a balcony for smoking area.

Sainé Daise Bistro serves modern Asian fusion cuisine with a Japanese touch that ranges from appetizer, soup, salad, light bites, mains, rice, and pasta, with desserts provided by EIO Patisserie downstairs. I even saw some dishes with Indonesian touches like rawon, and pork belly and matah.

So for starter we ordered truffle mushroom soup with crispy parma ham 55K and ama ebi salad with goma yuzu dressing 55K. Both dishes arrived at about the same time and both tasted delicious. The salad was topped with ama ebi that tasted good and went well with the light goma yuzu dressing. The truffle mushroom soup was also good, rich and creamy with a drizzle of truffle oil on top. To add the plus point, they served the soup with a piece of parma ham on toast.

For the mains, we went with duck confit, baby carrot, tempura kale with mushroom sauce on bacon mashed potato 110K. After such a good start, the main course was a disappointment. I like the bacon mashed potato and tempura kale although it was quite oily, but the duck confit and mushroom sauce which were supposed to be the stars felt like such a let down. The duck was dry and the mushroom sauce tasted way too strong like it was over-reduced. We told the server about this and she accepted our comment well and hopefully they’ll improve the dish.

For dessert, we chose valrhona chocolate mousse 55K. It actually arrived before our main course showed up. Yes, I didn’t ask them to hold off on the dessert until after we finished the main course, but I thought this was a common procedure. Fortunately, the mousse was delicious, dark, rich and not too heavy. My only complaint was that the crumble they served with the mousse was not crunchy.

Overall, it’s a nice place with a nice selection of dishes rarely found in this area. I hope they’ll keep improving and best of luck for Sainé Daise Bistro.

Hi, it’s nice to actually read some real opinion instead of glowing words about how great this restaurant is.
