There are many places to enjoy a cup of coffee in Ubud area, but Seniman Coffee Studio seems to generate the most buzz, so we decided to make a stop there as we trudge along Ubud main street. Located not far from Ubud Art Market, in a relatively quiet street of Sri Wedari, the place is always packed with coffee aficionados. Smoking is outdoor only, so the indoor area is entirely free of smoke. The coffee bar is lined along the left wall, with a bunch of ordinary white plastic chairs turned into quirky rocking chairs. There’s also a communal table for those who want to work with laptop.
We found a single table for two and ordered a cup of cappuccino 26K. The order came soon after in a fun presentation. The coffee glass is placed on a bright colored wooden paddle, accompanied with their daily traditional Balinese dessert (some kind of crepes with grated coconut and palm sugar filling) and free water. The glass is also unique, as it’s made from a cut wine bottle. The coffee is superb, bold and flavorful. The dessert also tasted very good, not too sweet and it complemented the coffee.
We’re so impressed, we went back several days later for breakfast. This time we ordered something called Fat Trucker 50K to share. It is a big breakfast consisting of bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomato, 2 eggs any style and multigrain toast. Delicious and large enough for the two of us. I also ordered a single origin Kintamani and it didn’t disappoint. The service was also friendly. So if you’re a coffee lover and happen to be in Ubud area, you have to try this place.
