Last March, Hotel Borobudur was celebrating its 36th anniversary and they offered a 36K set menu at their restaurants: Bruschetta Italian restaurant, Miyama Japanese restaurant, Teratai Chinese restaurant, off course their signature dish Sop Buntut (oxtail soup). Off course it grabbed the attention of Jakarta foodies as the traffic around the places was packed. Once inside the hotel, we were told that the Sop Buntut is sold in the Timor room. The place was already filled with people and there was a long waiting list.

So we put our name on the waiting list and I started wandering around the hotel. I ended up queueing in front of the bakery to buy various bread that have been discounted by 36%. An hour later, we finally got a table and ordered only one portion of sop buntut with rice to share (we’re planning to try another restaurant later). It was delicious, the meat was tender and the soup was rich with spices. No wonder so many people were willing to queue for hours just to try this dish. BTW, we didn’t get to try the other restaurants as the number of people there was unbelievable. We left the hotel about 15 minutes later 🙂

    Gue dapet di internet resepnya sop buntut yg lumayan deket rasanya sama yg Borobudur Jen. Cuma bentuknya tetep aja gak semedok foto lo itu.
    PS: benernya pake kentang gak sih? Gue lupa.

    Jen, sekarang harga normalnya seporsi berapaan ya? udah lama banget gak ke sono, jadi pengin ke sono. tapi takut udah gila2an harganya.
