Located right behind Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, at Thamrin City Office Park, Tanamera Coffee is the latest addition to Jakarta’s coffee scene, serving high quality Indonesian coffee. The place is designed with an industrial look. It’s not big, but the ambience is cozy and intimate, plus the staff are very friendly. Oh the place is also a non-smoking place. Yay!
Tanamera Coffee roasts their own coffee beans using a big diedrich coffee roaster sitting behind the glass wall at the back of the place. Currently, they are focusing on three types of Indonesian Arabica coffee which are Aceh Gayo, Mandheling and Papua. The coffee can be served either as espresso using US-made Slayer V3 or manually brewed using French press, V60 or Kalita Wave. I’ve always been a fan of manual brew, so I chose Mandheling coffee brewed with Kalita Wave. It has a bold body with intense aroma and low acidity.
Tanamera Coffee also made their own pastries. I sampled a bite of my friend’s banana cake, and it was truly to die for. The cake was moist with a generous amount of cashew inside and topped with a thick layer of caramel. It goes very well with my coffee. We ended up hoarding the cakes for ourselves (sorry Niel), and I also ordered the last slice to take home. I also tried several bites of carrot cake (also good) and coffee cake (a little too dense for me). We had a really good time and lots of laugh there, so I wish I can return soon to try more of their coffee and cakes.
