Warung Kopi Apek was listed as one of my must visit places in Medan. We went searching for this place on our third day in Medan, but couldn’t find it as we’re coming in the afternoon and the place only opens until 2PM. On our last day in Medan, we finally managed to visit the place. Located in Kesawan area, at the corner of Hindu and Perdana street, Warung Kopi Apek was originally called Warung Kopi Mieng Hao and it has been open since 1922.
We ordered several cups of kopi susu (served separately with sugar and milk), toast, and soft-boiled eggs. We also bought some fritters (sukun & pisang goreng) and kwetiaw goreng from the market across the road. I don’t know much about coffee, but I surely love the coffee and toast here. I think the old style atmosphere added an extra point to the meal, just like with Takkie’s kopitiam in Gloria – Pancoran.
