September 18, 2015 | INDONESIAN CUISINE, Tangerang, With Pork
Pasar Lama Tangerang is a traditional market nestled within the Chinatown (pecinan) area in Tangerang. I’ve been wanting to visit this place for a long time to learn more about the Benteng Chinese culture. We parked near Cisadane river and walked through an alley to the market. You can still feel the pecinan atmosphere here as many houses still have that old Chinese house facade, though some looked to be unkempt/abandoned. As we walked, I caught a whiff of sweet smell that turned out to originate from an old sweet soy sauce factory that produces the famous Kecap Benteng. Right next to the the center alley of the market, there’s a Chinese temple called Kelenteng Boen Tek Bio built in 1684. There’s also Benteng Heritage Museum that is worth a visit.
Besides that, Pasar Lama Tangerang is also famous for its culinary treats. There are plenty of traditional delicacies and that were what we went after on our visit to Tangerang last weekend. So below are our version of What to eat at Pasar Lama Tangerang Enjoy!

When i was waiting for my aunt doing her prayer in the kelenteng i decided try the bakmie just in front of the kelenteng
The place seemed so packed and busy as it was a bit hard to find an empty seat.
the bakmie is really nice and really fragrant. I might be a bit lebayyy but i would not object to nominate this bakmi as one of the best bakmi i’ve ever tasted
@Renaldy thanks for the info, I think I know the bakmie place you meant, will tried it next time I went there
